FAQ Friday | How do our Halloween shades apply?

FAQ Friday | How do our Halloween shades apply? – Hey lovelies, while we are in the midst of testing our new shades for our winter collection, our beloved cousin’s wedding took place this week and we figured, this would be the best time to wear our Halloween shades, since peaches and reds were the main color themes for the wedding 😬 – Pre-wedding nalangu ceremony look – Wore at 2pm, removed only at 3 something in the morning!! Pic taken at 2.47am (12 hours) – Snow queen e/s (Femme fatale collection) in the inner corner, outer corner & lower lashline – Trust is for the Foolish and the Dead (Halloween collection) as Centre eyelid e/s – Dr Crane the Scarecrow (Future release) e/s as transition shade blended out – Wedding look – Wore at 5am and took pic at 8.58pm before removing the makeup 🤓(15 hours!! 😳🤪) – Quickest way to a man’s heart is through his back e/s (Halloween collection) as Inner corner and outer corner shade – Follow me into the forest shade and none may spy on us e/s (Halloween collection) as centre eyelid shade – Toadstool e/s (Matte Maven collection) blended out on the outer edge and blended into Follow me shade, and centre shade morphed as a beautiful olive green shift💜 – I walk alone but the shadows are company enough e/s (Halloween collection) blended into Dr Crane the Scarecrow which is the Transition shade. Quickest way e/s blended into the bottom lashline on top of black pencil eyeliner. – Despite the natural oiliness seeping through ( melting Foundation, melting eyebrow powder causing wonky eyebrows 😂😂😂the eyeshadows lasted well. The strong shimmery look which was seen immediately upon application, slowly faded away, but leaving enough on the lids, still holding up the completed look, which really made us happy!💜🤗 – #indiemakeup #indiecosmetics #faqfriday #vegan #handmadecosmetics #glutenfree #parabenfree #carminefree #crueltyfree #crueltyfreebeauty #crueltyfreemakeup #madeinsingapore #igsg #sgig #sgbeauty #makeuplook #halloweencollection

FAQ Friday : Is there any difference in the products from our current Halloween & Little Mermaid collection?
Posted on 15th September 2017
View this post on Instagram
Hey lovelies! The FAQ that we’ve been receiving this week will be… – Is there any difference in the products from our current Halloween & Little Mermaid collection? – Similarities : Both have their fair share of duo-chromes, and some will be metallic / foiled eyeshadows. – Differences : The application experience will be different. Our mermaid collection is meant to represent innocent first love – dreamy and hopeful. ❤️Hence the shades will be iridescent and shimmery, sometimes glittery. – Our Dark Elves – Drow inspired collection is meant to represent the ever warring Light VS Dark, Good VS Evil, featuring good natured dark elves and their evil counterparts. – There will be a mix of warm neutrals & bold duo-chrome shades, with no iridescence nor glitter. – – Difference in Duo-chrome eyeshadows – The duo-chrome eyeshadows in this collection will be much different from our other collections. For each collection, we standardize 1 type of duochrome. Eg. Mermaid collection will be glittery iridescent duochrome. – For this collection, Duochrome effect is enhanced, to showcase the mystic factor of the very underrated Dark Elves. Some will be dual-toned shifts 🙌 – The colors are suitable for :- – Colours were carefully selected, to compliment beauties of any skin-tone, especially for beauties of color. Regardless of whether you are a neutrals only person, or bold eyeshadow wearer or if you are someone who only wears highlighters, in this collection, there will be something for everyone 🤓🤗 – Comparison Video : Soon to be released Halloween shade, swatched next to a previously released duochrome shade. Can you spot the difference? Can you tell which is the Halloween shade? 🤓 – – – #indiemakeup #indiecosmetics #rpx #makeupwithrisingphoenix #vegan #crueltyfreebeauty #crueltyfree #glutenfree #parabenfree #halloween #halloweencollection #darkelves #drow #eyeshadow #duochome #igsg #sgig #makeupwakeup #makeupporn #sgbeauty #sgigbeauty #madeinsingapore #handmadecosmetics #makeupgram #instaglam #drizzt #forgottenrealms #makeupsg #sgmakeup #beautysg

FAQ Friday : Hi, I have really sensitive, teary eyes.Do you have any recommendations? (Eyeshadow) . . Photo credits : dailymail.co.uk Usually for indie makeup brands, ingredients used in eyeshadows are really safe to be applied onto the eye area. Likewise, we have sourced for ingredients that are absolutely safe, to be worn over a long period of time. So basically all our eyeshadows are safe for sensitive/normal eyes. . . However, there are some certain ingredients in eyeshadows / eye-creams that will irritate the heck out anyone’s eyes, or even damage them. For instance :- 1) Essential oils . . Essential oils are wonderful for body lotions and oils. Just a drop can be potent, giving that extra oomph & healing/soothing sensation to the wearer. . . But these are not recommended to be included in the eyeshadow mix. . . 2) Camphor essential oil / melted camphor . . This literally makes us cry buckets, seeing a certain blogger’s DIY ‘all natural’ eye-cream recipe post…Don’t wish to shame anyone but this is dangerous misguided info that can potentially damage the eyes. Hence we are addressing this here. Having wonderful healing properties, when used in body oils, especially to relieve pain…Camphor is still highly flammable, and NOT recommended for eye products. Will you rub bird’s eye chilli into your eyes? Camphor gives the same effect. Aaargh!!! 😱😷😱 More detailed information on this topic, coming soon! . . Disclaimer : Information shared here is wisdom gained personally through years of painstaking recipe formulation. We hope this helps both eyeshadow lovers as well as new eyeshadow crafters ❤️ . . #indiemakeup #indiecosmetics #faqfriday #faq #recipe #recipeformulation #sgbeauty #sensitiveeyes #bewary #lifeofmakeupcreator

FAQ Friday : What is the difference between foiled and shimmer eyeshadow?
Posted on 28th July 2017, on Instagram
Eyeshadows which are not mattes, which also have sparkles due to the mica in them are termed as Shimmer eyeshadows by us.
Depending on the recipe formulation and color payoff, some of them as well as duochromes can also serve as foiled eyeshadows, when they are pressed.🤓 For some of them, the metallic appearance is more obvious, whereas the others might not, but they can also apply beautifully like a foiled eyeshadow.🤓
For instance, let’s take a look at Narashima eyeshadow (8 Avatars of Vishnu inspired collection)

FAQ Friday : Hi, do you have any matte neutral eyeshadows? *Follow-up*
Posted on 21st July 2017, on Instagram
Well, matte neutral lovers, we hear you! This is a frequently asked question, asked by people starting to wear makeup (our friends so we know haha!) , make-up artists, matte eyeshadow lovers who are on the lookout for more neutrals to add to their collection. Ultimately we strive to meet the needs of different types of makeup lovers. Just like shoes, makeup is for everyone! Hence once we completed our ‘Little Mermaid’ inspired collection, we began working on neutral shades, while crafting more eye-popping mattes.
These were initially crafted, to serve as transition shades, for light skinned beauties all the way to deep chocolate skinned beauties. Why? For people of certain skin tones, it is more difficult to find the perfect transition shade, in an eyeshadow palette that they have.
The shades can be more lighter or darker, depending on their skin-tone as it changes seasonally. Hence come summer or winter, the shades they utilize will be different. And we hope that our Neutrals can be the Transition shade that you have been looking for.
At the same time, these soft Neutral shades can be utilized for everyday looks too.
We aim to provide a broad spectrum of soft neutral shades which can also be used as a main eyelid color, for those who do a 5-minute makeup look, before rushing to school/work.
Of course if you are someone who will rock a bold eyeshadow as your transition shade, by all means go ahead! These shades on the other hand are for those who are looking for shades closer to their skin tone.
More shades coming soon!
So what kind of neutrals would you prefer? Warm or cool-toned shades?
Here’s a sneak peek of our new Neutral eyeshadows =)

FAQ Friday : Hi, do you have any matte neutral eyeshadows? *Follow-up* Hey lovelies! Today is the Racial Harmony Day celebration in Singapore, where we celebrate Unity in Diversity. In schools, similar beliefs & traditions of the various races will be shared to the pupils, teaching respect, tolerance & acceptance of others. And there's another perk for those in Secondary schools & more. Today's the day where they go to school, dolled up in others' or their own ethnic costumes instead of regular uniforms. 🌈 Since this is a day celebrating diversity, we found it apt to share this FAQ, since we hope to cater to most types of skin-tones through our Neutral eyeshadows. 🤗 These were initially crafted, to serve as transition shades. Why? For people of color, or those who are extremely fair, sometimes it's more difficult to find the perfect transition shade, in an eyeshadow palette that they have.🤓 Of course if you are someone who will rock a bold eyeshadow as your transition shade, by all means go ahead! 💃 More shades coming soon! FAQ Friday – How do your Shimmer eyeshadows work? Are they all duo-chrome?
Hello lovelies! We decided to feature some of our FAQs on Instagram, so that this may be useful to others who might be having these questions =)
Posted on 7th July 2017
MUA Vicky Ang has created a beautiful, dewy korean-makeup inspired look, using blended Evil-lyn as eyeshadow.
Evil-lyn is a strong metallic red eyeshadow, that turns to an intense copper on a white base, and smouldering dark red on black base.
Likewise, we have other shimmer as well as duochrome eyeshadows, which have different color-payoff, depending on the colored base that they have been applied on.
Due to the time-limit available on Instagram, we will only be featuring 3 products in the swatch video for reference, in this post =)

FAQ Friday Are all your shimmer eyeshadows duochrome? That will be awesome! But no, not all our shimmer eyeshadows are duochrome. However some of them do have different color pay-off, depending on the colored base that they have been applied on. Eg. Evil-Lyn – When applied on a white or lighter colored base, appears like copper. When well blended, gives a bronzy effect. Here you can see @vickyangmakeup wearing a blended Evil-lyn for her Korean-makeup-inspired look 😍 Swipe to left ↔️to see our other shimmer eyeshadows in action, when applied on different colored bases. 💫 Top – Applied on NYX skin colored eyeshadow primer Middle – Applied on NYX white eyeshadow primer Bottom – Applied on NYX Black Bean Jumbo Eye pencil Eyeshadows featured in the video : 1) Evil-lyn (Metallics collection) 🔥 2) "You're the one. The one I've been looking for" (Little Mermaid Inspired collection) 🤴 3) "What would I do to see you smiling at me?" (Little Mermaid Inspired collection) 💃 Have fun experimenting with your favourite eyeshadows on different colored bases! Fun fact 1 : We tried our best to show the different color payoff / duochrome effect, by taking a few videos. Hence you will be seeing each collection per eyeshadow.🤗 Fun fact 2 : Instant waxing of tiny hairs occurred, during removal of tapes.😂 Hence, the red patches across my arm. The pain is real y'all, Involuntary waxing & fever make a deadly combo 😷 Music credits : Olmos – Hold me 🤓 #faqfriday #shimmer #shimmereyeshadow #glutenfree #vegan #parabenfree #mineraloilfree #duochrome #crueltyfree #crueltyfreebeauty #crueltyfreemakeup #metallics #eyeshadows #pressedeyeshadows #pressedeyeshadowsg #handmade #handcrafted #selfmade #indiemakeup #indiecosmetics #sgbeauty

For this customer who enquired via Facebook, we decided to create an impromptu look, with our limited makeup skills, using the loose eyeshadows that she was interested in purchasing. So that, it can be an easy reference for her.
Being camera-shy this was a fish-out-of-water experience for us! 😂
And we realized that unfortunately we were out of frame in a few segments, haha 😂
Nevertheless, our customer was very supportive of this amateurish video.❤️ Since we do get the same requests from time to time, we decided to share the video here, for your easy reference 🤗
Eyeshadows in crease : Blood Earth blended with Toadstool
Main eyeshadow/s : Phantom Purple & Amun-Ra
Eyes’ inner corner: Vaamana
Eyebrow highlight : Asintmah Finishing powder
Face highlighter : Odin applied very lightly
Blush : Elixir blended out
Lipstick : NEW Tester product

Hey lovelies! Friday is finally here!!! So here is another FAQ 🤗 Hi, I’m looking for a subtle red eyeshadow that is glitter-free. Do you have any recommendations? We have a variety of red eyeshadows, so you can choose between the light bright reds, to the deep intense ones. Please take note :- Our Red shimmer eyeshadows (that have a blend of tiny sparkles) are more subtle, compared to our matte reds, as the beautiful shimmer softens the true-blue-red effect. (If that’s what you are going for) 😊 So if you would still like to try our subtle reds, we would recommend :- Psyche & Eros (Fairytale & Fantasy), Bloodlust (Halloween – After Dark), Wrath (Halloween – Sinner in You), Ifrit (Fairytale & Fantasy), Gumiho (Fairytale & Fantasy) If you do not want shimmer or glitter at any cost… Then try our bolder matte reds! Vermillion (Matte Maven), Lady Tremaine which leans towards reddish brown (Femme Fatale), Brick Red (Matte Maven) P.S Couldn't upload the videos here, will try to troubleshoot! *Story-time* When we first started formulating eyeshadows, the first shade that we wanted to create was red. Why? The eyeshadow palettes and singles that we had been using were more pink-toned than a true blue red. So our first red eyeshadow was Blood Lust, from the Halloween (After Dark) collection. Now, we create a mandatory red for every collection after the Halloween series. Cos we just can’t get enough of them reds 🤣 #faqfriday #indiemakeup #indiecosmetics #indiemakeupcompanies #shimmereyeshadow #matteeyeshadow #pressedeyeshadow #takeprideinyourcraft #handmade #supportsmallbusiness #smallbusiness #nopainnogain #vegan #sg #sgmakeup #sgcosmetics #glutenfree #parabenfree #crueltyfree #crueltyfreebeauty #madeinsingapore #makeup #vegan #parabenfree #sulfatefree #glutenfree #supportlocal #beautyofcolor #foranyskintone #mineraloilfree #naturalandsafeproducts #crueltyfreemakeup #nofilter

FAQ Friday Hi, I would like to try some of eyeshadows. Should I try loose or pressed? Any recommendations? We have reformulated our eyeshadows so that they can be pressed too. Hence, the color pay-off will be the same for both loose and pressed versions 😊Most of our eyeshadows are shimmer based. If you are going for mattes, then check out 'Matte Maven' or 'Femme Fatale' series. All of these are bold, vibrant colors, if you are more of a neutral gal… Well… neutral shades are in the making 🤗 Basically it depends on how you are going to use them. Craft-making, generous use for body-painting – Loose eyeshadows But if you are someone who likes to keep your eyeshadows in a palette, then definitely – Pressed eyeshadows. Here’s a look at some of the snaps and videos taken during our pressing process. Eyeshadow showcased : Narashima from ‘8 Avatars of Vishnu’ series ❤️ Color : Intense fiery orange of gold base, which appears more red or orange, depending on the light. The color-payoff is intense, however, the true beauty of it couldn’t be captured by our camera 😂Swatches coming soon! 🤗 #faqfriday #indiemakeup #indiecosmetics #indiemakeupcompanies #shimmereyeshadow #pressedeyeshadow #looseeyeshadow #loosetopressed #takeprideinyourcraft #handmade #supportsmallbusiness #smallbusiness #nopainnogain #vegan #sg #sgmakeup #sgcosmetics #glutenfree #parabenfree #crueltyfree #crueltyfreebeauty #madeinsingapore #makeup #vegan #parabenfree #sulfatefree #glutenfree #supportlocal #beautyofcolor #foranyskintone #mineraloilfree #naturalandsafeproducts #crueltyfreemakeup

FAQ Friday : Hi, I am looking for neon eyeshadows, the ones that can glow in the dark.
Do you have any products like that?
Posted on 19th May on Instagram

View this post on Instagram
FAQ Friday Hi, I am looking for neon eyeshadows, the ones that can glow in the dark. Do you have any products like that? We love neons, however since most neon dyes are not FDA approved, we have attempted to create bright shades (close to neon) but using only the US approved ingredients. And they definitely don’t glow in the dark 😂 Eg. Harlequinn (fluorescent red, appears pink in picture), Sunset (dark fluorescent orange), Loki (light fluorescent orange) and Carousel (fluorescent candy pink). Why is it so difficult to find a neon cosmetic product? The neon dyes or colorants are usually used for dying textiles and products like soaps, footwear etc. Due to their high chemical concentration, apart from a selected few, most are not approved for cosmetic use by US as well as European FDA. The same goes for glow-in-dark effect too. Their ingredients are US FDA approved for product-making such as soaps, and only Nail Polish for Cosmetics. So, please take note :- There ARE a few (handful) bright neon-like colorants approved by US FDA, which can be used for cosmetics. The rest are not. So if you are having a neon eyeshadow that also glows in the dark, and gives you a burning sensation upon application… Stop wearing it. Check with the company on the Ingredients used in that product. Safety before beauty, always 🤓 Disclaimer 1 : This post was not intended to hurt any company or individual. We hope that this helps make-up lovers to understand, why some of their favourite brands do not offer neon products. Disclaimer 2 : All of our products have not and will not be tested on animals. We are the human guinea pigs who wear the testers, before launching them for sale 😂🤗So rest assured, we only use eyes/lips/face & body-safe ingredients which are US FDA approved for all our products👍👌 #truthaboutneons #someneonsaresafe #neon #neoneyeshadow #indiemakeup #indiecosmetics #whattheydonttellyou #eyesafe #eyesafecosmetics #safetybeforebeauty #crueltyfree #crueltyfreebeauty #vegan #sgmakeup #sgbeauty #sgcosmetics #risingphoenixmakeup

FAQ Friday : Hi. I really like the eyeshadows! Why aren’t you going for mass production?
Posted on 12th May on Instagram
Here’s the full post :-
View this post on Instagram
FAQs Friday Hi lovelies, instead of answering similar questions in our emails, thought it will be more effective if we were to address them here. Hope this gives you a better understanding of us and our products ❤ Question : Hi. I really like the eyeshadows! Why aren't you going for mass production? We have been approaching cosmetic factories, since 2005 to manufacture our products based on our recipes. And they will handle the designing & manufacturing part. However, due to strict regulations, all of them, till now will only use their own formula. This same formula will be used for others signed with them too. At the end of the day, we will all be selling the same products, only differing by the packaging & brand name The hard truth* We could only select the design of the packaging, casing, & of course branding. For certain factories they were really kind enough to go the extra mile, to replicate similar shades that we have produced. Some offered eyeshadow or blush palettes. We can arrange with them to hot-stamp our brand (for an added fee), buy in bulk & distribute them to make-up lovers. But those are not our creations, and we just can’t take pride in them. So, we politely declined. So both of us will continue to handmake our products from scratch for now. And nothing gives us more satisfaction than achieving the desired color, and seeing a satisfied customer wearing our products. Yup, can’t beat that feeling ❤ Disclaimer : This post is not intended to hurt or defame any company. This is to shed light on our first-hand experience only. Hopefully this will give a new perspective to Indie make-up companies, who are also in the same boat as us, as they choose to stick by their recipes. #indiemakeup #indiemakeupcompanies #whynomassproduction #takeprideinyourcraft #handmade #supportsmallbusiness #smallbusiness #nopainnogain #vegan #sg #sgmakeup #hardtruth #indiecosmetics #whattheydonttellyou #risingphoenix #risingphoenixmakeup
